BOULDER, CO — December 18, 2024 — Perennial, a leading measuring, monitoring, reporting, and verification (MMRV) company, announced today the appointment of Dr. Daniela Moody, a seasoned geospatial and AI technology leader, as Chief Technology Officer. David Schurman, Perennial’s founding CTO for the past six years, has assumed the role of Chief Product Officer.

With the mission of increasing the adoption and outcomes of regenerative agriculture globally, Perennial provides certified, outcome-based measurement and verification for customers’ emissions reduction and ecosystem services programs. It is the only company who can provide MMRV products and services worldwide while reducing program costs at scale. Moody’s expertise equips Perennial to scale its technology to meet the evolving needs of global food, agriculture, and conservation organizations, while Schurman leads the product team in optimizing customer experience.

Moody brings decades of proven leadership to Perennial. She led the Geosite team in productizing geospatial data and climate insights for the insurance market—first as CTO of Geosite, then, following two acquisitions, as VP of Technology, Insurance at Descartes Labs and EarthDaily Analytics. Previously, Daniela held leadership roles at Arturo and Ursa Space Systems, advancing multimodal analytic solutions from aerial and satellite data. Earlier, she led food security monitoring efforts at Descartes Labs and spent nine years at Los Alamos National Laboratory applying remote sensing and machine learning to critical challenges in space systems and nuclear non-proliferation. Daniela holds an M.S. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park, where she specialized in signal processing, computer vision, and machine learning.

“I can’t think of a better person to pass the torch to”, said Schurman, Perennial’s founding CTO. “Moody is among the best in the world at geospatial AI and leading teams working on innovative spatial products. She will scale our tech and product to serve customers around the world as we enter this next phase of growth.”

“Perennial has a strong foundation and is well positioned to deliver meaningful innovation”, said Moody. “I’m thrilled to be joining the team and operationalizing its technology to deliver high-impact geospatial insights that support climate adaptation and sustainability efforts worldwide.”

“Schurman has been the driving force behind Perennial as one of the most novel and scientific companies to measure and reduce emissions in the agriculture industry. He has taken us from the idea stage to full deployment and scientific readiness”, shared Jack Roswell, co-founder and CEO of Perennial. “Now, with Moody’s proven expertise in geospatial intelligence and operational scaling, we’re poised to meet the growing customer demand for unparalleled ecosystem insights and measurement of regenerative agriculture on a global scale.”
